Application guide · Official-source overview

Apply for a Kenyan passport in the UK

This is a starting point based on official guidance, rather than a personal account of applying for a passport.

  1. Check your application route

Read the High Commission’s passport requirements (opens in a new tab) for your application type. First applications, renewals, lost or damaged passports and changes of details need different paperwork.

If you hold another citizenship, check the dual-citizenship (opens in a new tab) and regaining-citizenship (opens in a new tab) guidance. Ask the High Commission if your route is unclear.

  2. Apply through eCitizen

Complete the application and payment through the official eCitizen website (opens in a new tab). Download and print the form and payment receipts; sign and date the form. Recheck fees on the official service.

  3. Book and attend your appointment

Use the High Commission’s appointment portal (opens in a new tab). Attend in person for biometrics with your form, receipts and required documents. A child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  4. Prepare for the return delivery

Follow the High Commission’s instructions for a prepaid, trackable return envelope and sufficient postage. Its current guidance says passports are returned by post.

If you need help with your application

Contact the Kenya High Commission’s consular team (opens in a new tab). They can clarify the requirements for your circumstances.
